July 1 (AZINS) Ranbir Kapoor's latest release Sanju has managed to strike gold at the ticket windows. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial, which is a biopic on the controversial life of Sanjay Dutt, has resonated pretty well with the audience as well as the critics alike. While quite a few special screenings of the film were organised for the near and dear ones from the industry, it has been reported that Sanjay Dutt had initially refused to watch his biopic before it's theatrical release. Now, turns out that the real Sanju Baba finally watched the film at a special screening along with Hirani and Ranbir. While his fans eagerly awaited his reaction, th helmer has now shared how Sanjay Dutt reacted on watching his own life some alive on the silver screens.
During the promotional intrviews and numerous media interactions for before the release of the film, Rajkumar Hirani had shared how Sanjay Dutt gave him a free hadn to turn his life into a motion picture, without any inhibitions or interference. In a recent interview with ABP News, Hirani revealed that he was closely observing Sanjay Dutt's reactions while he was watching Sanju - the film as he had got a bit jittery before the movie screening for Dutt began.
He told the channel, "Before the screening, I suddenly got frightened. We had shown everything and he (Dutt) never came to the shoot. I was wondering, what will be his reaction? We might get beaten up too. He was sitting in the seat next to mine. He was watching the film and I was stealthily watching his reactions."
Reportedly, Dutt didn't react at all throughout the entire movie, while he was watching it. However, as soon as the movie came to an end, he couldn't hld back his emotions any longer and broke down into tears. He went on to hug both Hirani and Ranbir post the screening. "It was only when the film ended that he cried and hugged me and Ranbir," added Hirani.
The movie has already raked in over Rs 73 crore at the ticket windows in the first two days of its release. Sanju is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark on Sunday itself. Watch this space...
