July 19 (AZINS) Director Damian Chazelle's next First Man, starring Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy in the lead, is set to open the Venice Film Festival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film, about the United States' 1969 Apollo 11 moon-landing mission, will serve as the opening night film of the 75th edition of the festival on August 29.
This will be the second instance of Chazelle's film serving as the opening feature of the famed festival.
The 33-year-old director's previous directorial La La Land had opened the festival in 2016 and went on to register a strong showing at the succeeding award season, that also saw it winning a total of six Oscars at the 2017 Academy Awards.
First Man features Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong in the years leading up to the Apollo 11 moon-landing mission. Foy plays Armstrong's wife, Janet Shearon.
The film' cast also includes Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Corey Stoll, Ciaran Hinds, Christopher Abbott, and Patrick Fugit.
The 75th edition of Venice Film Festival will run from August 29 to September 8.
