Beatles' legend Paul McCartney recreates Abbey Road crossing on album's 49th anniversaryJuly 24 (AZINS) Beatles legend Paul McCartney literally walked down the memory lane to recreate one of the most famous moments in music history.    Ahead of the 49th anniversary of the release of Abbey Road, the 76-year-old musician and his daughter Mary, 48, crossed the street outside of Abbey Road Studios here.

As Beatles fans know, the Fab Four crossing the street made for one of the most iconic photographs and later became the cover of their album "The Abbey Road", which released in 1969.

McCartney, dressed in a white shirt and burgundy pants, recreated the cover in front of hoards of fans in London on Monday.

"Why did the Beatle cross the Abbey Road?" his daughter Mary captioned the videos of her famous father crossing the street.

He also shared the historic moment on his Instagram Story, which turned into an impromptu Q&A session with fans, who have multiple theories about the photograph.

Fans asked the musician about why he did not wear any shoes in the original pictures where John Lennon is leading the pack. He is followed by Ringo Starr, McCartney and George Harrison.      "It was a very hot day and I happened to be wearing sandals like I am today so I just kicked them off because it was so hot we went across barefoot. There was no special meaning," McCartney replied.

The musician also played four new songs from his upcoming album Egypt Station as part of a secret show. The album releases on September 7.
