'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' trailer: The film discusses a solemn issue in a lighthearted way and it's every bit intriguingAug 10 (AZINS) The trailer of the much anticipated film Batti Gul Meter Chalu, starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam is out!

The riveting trailer which depicts the story of a small town in Uttarakhand which is plagued by the problem of power cuts.

In the first half of the trailer, although the star-cast, including Shahid, Shraddha and Divyendu Sharma, now-and-then raise the problem of power-cuts, everything seems hunky dory.

A fun-loving side of Shahid's character is shown during this time, who enjoys flirting with Shraddha's character in the film.

However, things take a drastic turn soon when Divyendu decides to establish a factor and one day is slapped with a bill of several lakhs by the electricity board.

Unable to pay the debt, Divyendu's character in the film commits suicide.

Shahid is traumatised to know this and takes it upon himself to avenge his friend's death and injustice in the court of law.

In the court, Shahid who fights the case for his friend, is pitted against Yami Gautam, who essays the role of a lawyer.

The trailer is good balance of happy and sad. What is striking about the trailer is that even though it deals with a solemn topic, it has enough lightheartedness to push away excessive drama and boredom.

Also, the film deals with a severe problem that has found roots in the country- power-cuts and crippling electricity bills, which makes it every bit intriguing.

Even the performances of the three actors in the trailer seems promising as they have adopted the mannerisms that their roles demanded, pretty well.

Shahid Kapoor too took to his Twitter and shared the trailer, along with a caption which read, "Ab hogi Batti Gul toh hogi masti chaalu!! Here’s the #BattiGulMeterChaluTrailer! http://bit.ly/BattiGulMeterChaluTrailer …@ShraddhaKapoor @divyenndu @yamigautam @TSeries @bgmcfilm #BhushanKumar @ShreeNSingh @KuttiKalam #VirenderArora"

Batti Gul Meter Chalu marks the comeback of Shraddha and Shahid’s jodi after Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider.

The film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and is all set to hit the screens on September 21.
