Aug 19 (AZINS) We are all aware thet the Indian state of Kerala is experiencing one of the worst floods in a century and according to reports from the state, the death toll has reached over 300.
Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been asked to mobilize additional manpower, boats, and helicopters to scale up the rescue and relief operations. Food packets and drinking water are also being rushed.
But guess this is not enough. A lot more is required to help the ones in need and so several Bollywood celebrities have come out in support of the state and are trying to spread awareness about the ongoing disaster.
The B-town biggies have taken to social media and are trying to help the victims in whichever way possible.
Earlier celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Sonali Bendre, Abhishek Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, among others took it upon their shoulders to spread awareness and raise amount for donation, and now filmmaker Priyadarshan and actors Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan have donated money to the Chief Ministers Distress Relief Fund towards the flood-ravaged Kerala.
Priyadarshan on Saturday tweeted a photograph of himself handing over a cheque to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and urged people to unite to save the state.
Along with the picture he wrote, "Handed over mine and Akshay Kumar's cheque to Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. Let's together build back Kerala back to its glory again. No politics, no religion only humanity. Let's stand together to save Kerala. #Kerela floods."
Hrithik Roshan too took to Twitter and expressed his pain regarding the same. He even asked fellow citizens to reach out to the victims and support them in whichever way possible.
The Agneepath actor's tweet read, "The situation in Kerala is critical. Help is required. Please let’s come forward and do whatever we can. Our friends in Kerela need us right now. I have contributed a sum and I request you all to do whatever you can. God bless #KerelaFloodRelief"
Incessant rainfall in Kerala has over the last few days, caused abnormal flooding and landslides in several parts of the state. The flooding yet continues and the situation is getting worse every minute.
