Samsung Galaxy F foldable smartphone is real, and is coming soon: CEO DJ KohAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Aug 20 (AZINS) Looks like Samsung’s foldable Galaxy phone has finally received a confirmation by CEO DJ Koh.
Samsung CEO DJ Koh confirmed that the company was "focusing on developing innovations that will be genuinely accepted and liked by consumers" for the foldable phone but also that the company "didn't want to lose the world's-first title".
Samsung's rival, Apple is reportedly working a new foldable iPhone, which might be unveiled in 2020 as well. Bank of America Merrill Lynch has stated that the smartphone maker is working with its Asian partners on a foldable device which will be able to open up and be used like an iPad tablet.
It should be noted that this isn’t the first time that rumours regarding a foldable device have surfaced online. Previously, reports suggested that Apple was working with LG Display to build a foldable iPhone. Apple has also filed a patent last year in which the company proposed to make an iPhone which can open and close like a book.
Also, Samsung and Apple might not be the only two companies working on a foldable phone. The world’s third-largest smartphone maker Huawei is also rumoured to be working on a foldable device which might release this year. According to Dutch website LetsGoDigital, the patent was filed in September 2017, but was recently published on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) website.
In October last year, Huawei CEO Richard Yu had stated that the company was working on a prototype device which needed improvement to its design. According to Yu, the device had two screens, and there was still a small gap between them that needed to be fixed. The report pointed out that the Huawei foldable smartphone has one large flexible display that can be opened and closed in the middle by means of a folding mechanism.
