Manmarziyaan Box Office: Abhishek Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu-Vicky Kaushal's film has a slow start, mints Rs 3.52 croreAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Sep 15 (AZINS) Anurag Kashyap's latest offering Manmarziyaan, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in the leads, is off to a slow start on day one of its release. The much awaited flick opened to Rs 3.52 crore at the box office.
As of now, the Anurag Kashyap directorial is riding high on rave reviews from the critica and an extremely positive word of mouth. Trade buzz suggests that Manmarziyaan should be able to pick up momentum from day two onwards and the weekend business of the film is expected to be much better. The film is expected to rake in better numbers on Saturday and Sunday.
Not just the storyline of the film, but the performances by the leads, Abhishek, Taapsee and Vicky are being much appreciated by one and all. In fact, the movie has managed to create quite an impressive post-release buzz.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the box office figures of the film. He wrote, " #Manmarziyaan has a low Day 1... Started on a dull note in the morning, but picked up towards evening... North circuits were better... Biz will scale upwards on Sat and Sun [a norm these days], but real test will be on weekdays... Fri ? 3.52 cr. India biz."
In case you are unable to decide whether you should watch Manmarziyaan this weekend, here's the verdict from DNA's review of the film which says that it is "For the eternal die-hard romantics, Manmarziyaan is that tale which encourages you to dream on, no matter what. Go for it with that special someone."
About the performances, our film critic Meena Iyer notes, "As far as performances go — Taapsee, who has shades of Tanu (Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu, 2011), is terrific. Her gay abandon, opinionated views and transformation from babe to bahu is superb. Vicky gives his DJ character several nuances. And, Abhishek, who took a two-year break, actually shows you that “things do grow beneath the Banyan tree.” Burdened as he is with being Amitabh Bachchan’s son, he still manages to bring gravitas to his Robbie. While Manmarziyaan keeps you dreaming of a state of Utopia, it also keeps you pining for Abhishek. It’s a pity this actor doesn’t accept more work."
