'The Walking Dead' fame Scott Wilson dies at 76Oct 7 (AZINS) Hollywood star Scott Wilson, popularly known for his work in The Walking Dead, passed away at the age of 76, after battling cancer for a while.

The veteran's representative, Dominic Mancini told TMZ that the American actor died due to leukemia (blood cancer).

AMC, in a statement said, “Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person. The character he embodied on ‘The Walking Dead,’ Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our characters’ choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed.”

In the recently-concluded New York Comic-Con, it was revealed that Scott would star in the ninth season of The Walking Dead, along with former stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Jon Bernthal, which is set to premiere on Sunday.

Wilson's Hollywood career began in 1967 with the Hollywood classic In the Heat of the Night.

He then went on to star in legendary films like The Great Gatsby and Dead Man Walking.

Scott even earned a Golden Globe nomination under the Best Supporting Actor for his role of Captain Billy Cupshaw in The Ninth Configuration (1980).

Apart from starring in Pearl Harbor, the actor also appeared in the hit American detective series CSI.

May Scott Wilson's soul rest in peace.
