‘Sara is a born actor’: Amrita Singh on why her daughter is destined to face the arc lights

Nov 3 (AZINS) Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Kedarnath next month. The tragic romantic saga’s first teaser was unveiled a few days ago and the 23-year-old is already being talked about, thanks to her screen presence and striking resemblance to her mom Amrita Singh.

The yesteryear actress, who is happy with the attention that her daughter is garnering, tells us, “I’m glad that people are appreciating her. It’s difficult and odd to talk in the media about how I’m feeling right now. So, I can’t really share my true emotions. But as a mother, I’m extremely overwhelmed and proud. Now, it’s up to the audience and that Friday to decide it for her.”

For any debutante, it’s the first impression that matters the most and Sara has definitely hit a home run, with people praising her look in the Abhishek Kapoor directorial. Tell Amrita that the newbie reminds everyone of her and she smiles, “I hope Sara does really well in life. I want her to stay extremely grounded, focussed and committed to her work. It’s a tough job at the end of the day. So, she should just keep moving ahead and do the right kind of films.”

She also adds that she’s ‘waiting for people to start referring to me as Sara’s mother’. “That will be the ultimate day. Isn’t it the biggest achievement for any parent to see their kids get such recognition? Sara is a born actor. She would always do those pretty things in front of the mirror. We knew that she would definitely become an actress,” Amrita laughs.

Unlike her other contemporaries, the youngster will have two back-to-back releases in the same month. Her second film, Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, opposite Ranveer Singh, hits the marquee on December 28, three weeks after Kedarnath. There definitely is pressure on her to deliver, given the legion she belongs to, but Amrita has given her beti a special tip. “It’s a job where you just have to be honest with your emotions. I have asked Sara to love the camera, because if you give it that much love and respect, it will love you back,” she signs off.
