No show: Lull at box office ahead of Diwali in JaipurAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Nov 3 (AZINS) With people busy in preparations for the festival of Diwali, no new movie was released in Jaipur in the multiplexes this Friday. The trade experts informed that seeing the experience of the previous years when the movies released at the time of Diwali, they recorded poor collections and this why this week no new movie was released.
The distributors and multiplexes are now preparing to release Thugs of Hindostan, next day of Diwali on November 8, on a Thursday in Jaipur. The movie will be released in Jaipur in all screens and in all cinemas.
The distributors believe that the movie will get maximum attention of movie lovers because it will be a long weekend next week post Diwali. Most of the establishments and offices will be closed for Diwali holidays and won’t open until next Monday i.e. November 12.
Since it will be the day when people visit each other’s houses, a large number of people are expected to meet their loved ones and relatives and thereafter watch the movie starring Bollywood greats Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan.
Based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug, this movie tells us about a thug named Ameer Ali and his gang, whose nefarious ways posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India between 1790 and 1805.
As Friday is Bhai Dooj and many establishments are closed on Saturday, therefore, there is expected to be a large number of audiences going to watch this movie on Saturday and Sunday as well, say distributors and movie hall managers.
“Watching movie after all the festivities will be a good idea to save the Monday morning blues,” said Sonu Sharma a student.
In absence of any new big release this Friday, movies like Saif Ali Khan’s Baazaar was being shown in many screens. Other movies like Avataar 2018, Jack and Dil, Badhaai Ho, Telugu movie Savyasachi and half-a-dozen other movies were also running on various screens as cinema halls had no new release to offer.
How will be the response of Thugs of Hindustan is yet to be seen and the advance booking for it will open from Saturday, November 3.
