Nov 19 (AZINS) Bollywood filmmaker and producer Karan Johar is keen on producing a biopic on the Indian Air Force's female pilot Gunjan Saxena and as per a report in Bollywood Hungama, he has already roped in his protégé Janhvi Kapoor for the part.
A source close to the development, told the portal, “Karan Johar thinks Janhvi has the right posture and attitude to play Gunjan Saxena. No, Janhvi won’t actually fly a helicopter in the film. But she is going to learn how the helicopter works so she looks comfortable inside a helicopter.”
Set against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War, this will be Janhvi Kapoor’s first biopic as the leading lady. Speaking of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, she was awarded for her courage and valour with Shaurya Vir during the Kargil War. She was the first women to receive the honour. Gunjan was a part of the first batch of 25 women who were selected as IAF [Indian Air Force] trainee officers in the year 1995 and she along with another woman officer Srividya were assigned the duty of Kargil War.
As per Bollywood Hungama, Janhvi has already started her prep for the film. The actress recently met Gunjan, to understand her mannerisms. The title and the director for the biopic are yet to be decided. The film is expected to go on floors sometime next year. But, it still remains to be seen whether it will commence before or after 'Takht'.
After Hrs had earlier reported that she has also been roped in for Shashank Khaitan's espionage thriller opposite Varun Dhawan. “Shashank and Karan Johar (who is backing the project) wanted a new jodi for the film. They felt Janhvi would be a perfect fit," a source told us.
The actor will essay the role of a spy in the film, which is being modelled on the highly-acclaimed Bourne series. Our source added, “She will undergo rigorous training and perform some heavy-duty stunts.”
This will be Janhvi's fourth film with Dharma Productions. She made her debut with 'Dhadak' and has already been signed for the multi-starrer period drama 'Takht', which will be directed by Karan himself!
