Apple plans to pay customers in exchange for old iPhone with iPhone XS, iPhone XRNov 28 (AZINS) Apple has devised a new way of having people move to adopting the newer iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

For a limited time, Apple is offering upto an additional USD 100 if you trade in your old iPhone for the newer models. It is available through Apple's trade-in program, Cnet reported.

However, the catch here is that the extra money will be provided in the form of an Apple Store Gift Card, which basically means more mindless shopping at the store. Additionally, the scheme is valid only on exchange of a few old iPhone models include the iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 6S/6S Plus, iPhone 7/7 Plus, and the iPhone 8.

The hefty price of the newer generation iPhone probably did not work in favour of Apple. The company is reportedly looking at restarting the production of its older iPhone X which had a good response.

According to Mashable, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, which debuted in September, are not selling at a pace the company expected. Applealso decided to cut production on all new iPhones.

Now, just days after reportedly putting a halt on the new iPhones, Apple is restarting the iPhone X production. The decision is due in part to an agreement with Samsung to purchase a certain amount of OLED display panels.

Earlier, Flurry Analytics, a company which looked into device activations of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max from September 21 to September 27 found that sales for both devices performed better than its predecessor, the iPhone X, as well as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

According to the report, during their first full week, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max generated a7 percent more revenue, as compared to the combined sales of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus during their first week respectively.
