Devoleena Bhattacharjee aka Gopi Bahu of 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' questioned in diamond merchant murder caseDec 9 (AZINS) Popular TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, best known for her role of Gopi Bahu in Star Plus' show 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya', was summoned by the police and reportedly interrogated for hours, in connection with the murder of a diamond merchant.

Rajeshwar Udani had gone missing on November 28. Ten days later, his body was found in a forest in Panvel in Raigad district on Friday, the police said.

The police have identified the accused as Sachin Pawar -- a former personal assistant of Maharashtra minister Prakash Mehta -- while another accused, Dinesh Pawar, is a suspended police constable who was arrested earlier in a rape case.

Now the television actress' name has cropped up in the probe after her phone number was found in Udani's call details. She hasn't yet got a clean chit.

It appears the trader was murdered due to a monetary dispute with the accused and for eyeing a woman friend of Sachin Pawar, DCP (Zone VII) Akhilesh Singh said. It is not clear if the woman was Devoleena Bhattacharya.

Some more women from the entertainment industry may be summoned for questioning in the coming days.
