Dia Mirza calls out PM Narendra Modi and Akshay Kumar for ‘no women’ in Bollywood meetAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Dec 21 (AZINS) Dia Mirza is not only a Bollywood actress but she is one of the few actresses who takes up social causes seriously. She has especially come out in support of women, who have been undermined at more occasions than one.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a meeting for Bollywood celebrities to discuss how the rule of GST has impacted their industry.
The PM tweeted, “Had an extensive and fruitful interaction with a delegation from the film and entertainment industry. The delegation spoke about the strides being made by the film and entertainment industry, and gave valuable inputs relating to GST for their sector.”
A proud Akshay Kumar also posted a photo from the meeting tweeting, “Heartfelt thank you to the honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for taking out time to hear us at length, discuss issues pertaining to our industry and assuring positive consideration of suggestions.”
Surprisingly, although women have been ruling over the industry, especially in this year with films like Padmaavat, Raazi, Veere Di Wedding becoming the most-spoken-about films, the meeting did not see even one lady as a part of the council.
Dia raised the same issue with Akshay Kumar, but in a very subtle way. She retweeted his post and wrote, “This is wonderful! Is there a reason why there were no women in this room? @akshaykumar.”
Dia had made a cameo with Akshay in his ‘Heyy Babyy’ title song, where she enacted Marilyn Monroe pose while the boys Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Akshay danced besides her.
