Thackeray Box Office: Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer opens to Rs 6 crore on Day 1Author : AZIndia News Desk
Jan 27 (AZINS) Apart from Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Thackeray hit the theatres this Friday, just a day before India's 70th Republic Day. The movie, though, got less screens when compared to those of Manikarnika, managed to rake in a total of Rs 6 crore on day one of its release.
The film is a biopic of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is seen playing the protagonist in Thackeray. As per trade pundits, the film has done exceptionally well in the state of Maharashtra (no surprises there!). The Marathi version fo the film has also done pretty well at the box office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the box office numbers of Thackeray. He wrote, "#Thackeray has scored in #Maharashtra specifically... #Marathi version has collected very well... #RepublicDay holiday [today] should help escalate its biz... Fri ? 6 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Marathi"
The performances of Nawazuddin and Amrita Rao in Thackeray have been much appreciated and the film has mostly received good reviews. Thackeray is riding on a positive word of mouth. The Republic Day holiday is expected to work wonders for the film. Watch this space.
