Valentine hues of 2019Feb 10 (AZINS) While red is traditionally the colour of choice when it comes to clothes on Valentine’s Day, a mixed palette of hues is also making its presence felt. Designers say that women are ready to embrace shades ranging from crimson to pink, red-infused purples, violet and living coral.

RED IS NOT ALL THE RAGE

Designer Arpita Mehta feels more women are trying to move away from this cliché. She adds, “Though red is the colour associated with Valentine’s Day, people are also sporting variants like crimson. I feel that rani pink or hot pink is a fabulous option for this occasion. Subtly accessorising outfits in this hue gives a chic and classy vibe. It is not only striking but also makes a statement. It complements the Indian skin tone and enhances features. It is one colour, which has come back in vogue.”

VALENTINE 2019 WILL SHOWCASE PANTONE COLOUR OF THE YEAR

The living coral hue, which grabbed the spot as Pantone shade of 2019, will be much in demand this V-Day, feel designers. However, that does not mean it’s the end of the road for red. Nikhil Thampi explains, “The colour red symbolises passion and love, so, it is a predominant shade for Valentine’s Day. However, tastes and styles have also transitioned over the period. Millennials are experimental not only with their attire, but also with the colour palette. For people, who want to step out of the norm of wearing red on the day, they can try different shades of red infused purples and violet. One could also go with orange, fuchsia pink, or living coral. All of these are equally effective when it comes to conveying the message of ‘romance,’” says Nikhil.
