Ranveer Singh's '83: Saqib Saleem to play THIS legendary cricketer in the film based on 1983 World Cup winFeb 18 (AZINS) The makers of '83 are leaving no stone unturned in casting actors for the squad which led Team India to win their first Cricket World Cup in the year 1983. In the film, being helmed by Kabir Khan, Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the role of the winning captain that is, Kapil Dev. Actors like Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar and Chirag Patil have been finalised to play the role of the legendary cricketers.

A while back, the official Instagram page of '83 announced that Saqib Saleem will be seen playing the role of Mohinder 'Jimmy' Amarnath alongside Ranveer in the film. Saqib shared his excitement by sharing a photo of Mohinder during 1983 with a heartfelt message stating, "Like every Indian, I love cricket but maybe a little more because I was training to be a cricketer when I was young. I met Jimmy sir on the sets of Dishoom for the first time. At that time I had never imagined that I would be playing him in a film based on the 1983 World Cup. I was fascinated by the stories he shared not knowing that I would have to be him in them. But thank you @kabirkhankk for making this film and thinking of me for this incredible part. It’s my absolute honour to be playing Mohinder Amarnath"

On the other hand, Mardaani actor Tahir Raj Bhasin will be seen as Sunil Gavaskar in one of the most anticipated films. The Instagram page of '83 posted Tahir's photo and shared, "Here’s announcing what promises to be an iconic adventure as the original little master. Super excited to turn the clock back to 83! Presenting @tahirrajbhasin as Sunny urf the Original Little Master, #SunilGavaskar. #CastOf83"

The prep for '83 has already begun and the film will be shot at Lords Stadium, where the actual historical and winning moment took place. The much-awaited film is set to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.
