Bigg Boss 11 star and Congress party member Shilpa Shinde gets rape threats for backing Navjot Singh Sidhu's statementsAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Feb 26 (AZINS) 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!' actress and 'Bigg Boss 11' winner Shilpa Shinde, who joined the Congress party earlier this month, is reportedly getting rape threats ever since she has come out in support of fellow party minister and popular TV presenter Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Sidhu's 'Terrorism has no Nation' statement over Pulwama terror attack received severe backlash from all quarters. Kapil Sharma and other television actors like Shilpa Shinde faced the brunt of people's rage after they voiced their support for him.
In a recent interview to IWMBuzz, Shilpa revealed that she will not stay quiet this time and will take legal action against all the social-media 'terrorists'. She maintained that Sidhu did not speak anything wrong.
"I am going to take legal action. It is high time the authorities stepped in and cracked down on such elements who have also attacked several women journalists like Barkha Dutt and others. I call such people terrorists as well, for their actions are as bad as the LeT and JM guys. What wrong did Paji say? People just want to twist his lines. Where did he support terrorism? Agreed, he might have been politically correct by not criticizing his friend, Imran Khan, but you need to understand that they have played together for years. Also, why was everyone after him to say something bad about Pakistan. He hit the nail on the head by saying that, at the end of the day, issues can only be threshed out on the peace table," she said.
When asked to comment on Sidhu's alleged ouster from 'The Kapil Sharma Show' and the recent ban on Pakistani artistes, Shilpa said, "I am totally against the new phenomenon of banning anyone whose views you don’t concur with. Sadly, CINTAA and other industry bodies are equally complicit in this. Everyone has the right to occupation; you can’t deny me the right to earn my livelihood. In the same vein, I also bat for the rights of Pakistani artists to work in Bollywood, purely on the basis of talent. I have been victim of this ban culture, so know what’s wrong with it."
Shilpa, who was quite active on social media, quit Twitter last month and also deleted all her previous posts from her Instagram account. The actress spoke to India-forums and confirmed the deletion of her account. She said, "Social media is a brutal place. My fans are extremely possessive about me. So when there are negative comments about me or people are trolling me, my feed is flooded by fan messages. See, I'm least bothered by haters, but my fans go reckless about it."
"Social media is for socializing, for expressing views, but people want to know everything. I feel social media is not for me," she added and also confirmed that she is not coming on Twitter again.
