'Kesari' Box Office Report: Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra's film gets a decent start; can lead to a bumper openingAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mar 21 (AZINS) Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari has finally hit the screens on the festive occasion of Holi. The film is Akshay's first release of the year and one of the most-anticipated. Kesari is a historical drama based on the true story of the Battle of Saragarhi fought between 21 courageous Sikhs and 10,000 invaders in the year 1897. Talking about the screen count of the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "India: 3600 Overseas: 600 Worldwide total: 4200 screens."
As per Box Office India, Kesari has taken off on a good note in the domestic market. The morning shows might have got affected because of Holi due to multiplexes in the malls tend to shut. The report also suggested that the afternoon shows might witness three times higher of the viewers as compared to the morning screenings. Despite being a slow morning, Kesari might get a bumper opening and can set a record for this year as well.
Earlier during an interaction with Indian Express Online, trade analyst Girish Johar stated, "Kesari is one of the costliest films of Akshay. From the trailer, it looks like a big screen extravaganza. It is coming on Holi which is a festive holiday and it will surely light up the screens. Whatever we have seen in terms of promotion, the scale of the film is quite big. Everyone is looking forward to watching it on the 70mm screen. It has ticked all the boxes. They are targeting more than 3500 screens across the country and also it is an extended weekend. So, it will definitely have a great opening. I peg it at Rs 25 crore. It has all the makings of Akshay's highest holiday opener."
Kesari is directed by Anurag Singh and co-produced by Karan Johar. It stars Parineeti Chopra as the female lead.
