TikTok sensation Mirnalini Ravi set to make her Telugu debut with 'Valmiki'Mar 27 (AZINS) Social media star Mirnalini Ravi who rose to fame with her TikTok videos she posted on Instagram is on her way to cinema stardom in no time. Even as she’s set to be seen in the much-awaited Tami film Super Deluxe directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, the latest is that she’s set to make a debut into Telugu cinema with director Harish Shankar’s Valmiki, the remake of Jigarthanda.

Speaking to a member from the film’s unit, it has been learned that Mirnalini was chosen after several girls were auditioned for the role. “Since she will be reprising the role of Lakshmi Menon from the original, the makers were in search for a girl who’ll be able to pull off a native look with east. After searching for several Telugu girls from various short films and even an open audition, things didn’t look up for the team till Mirnalini came up. Harish was very keen on casting a Telugu girl for the role but he couldn’t find a debutant who’d match his vision,” shares a source in the know.

Starring Varun Tej in one of the lead roles as a gangster, reprising the role of Bobby Simhaa from the original, and Atharvaa, who’ll play a filmmaker played by Siddharth in Jigarthanda, this film has already gone on floors. Titled Valmiki, a great deal of care is being taken to get the casting right since the original film was a cult classic and Harish is wary of doing a bad job with the remake. Names of Ravi Teja and Sai Dharam Tej were initially heard with regard to this remake but things didn’t work out.

Notably, Harish Shankar is known to have brought Telugu star Pawan Kalyan’s career back into the groove after a decade of flops with Gabbar Singh which was the remake of Salman Khan-starrer Dabanng.
