Kabir Khan's '83: West Indies player Malcolm Marshall's son Mali to play his role in Ranveer Singh starrerApril 15 (AZINS) After the mind shattering success of his last three films, Ranveer Singh has now begun prep for his next with Kabir Khan, titled '83 the film. The movie, which is based on Indian Cricket Team's historic 1983 World Cup victory, will see a huge star cast, portraying the different members of the World Cup winning team. While the casting for the members of the Indian cricket team is already complete, now the makers have begun casting for the West Indies cricket team to be portrayed in the film.

A Mumbai Mirror report suggests that '83 makers have roped in West Indies player Malcolm Marshall's son Mali to portray his character in the film. Kabir Khan was quoted as saying by the tabloid, "Yes we are thrilled to have Mali Marshall, son of the legend Malcolm Marshall play the role of his father. Not only does he look like his father but his bowling action is also exactly like him."

He further added, "As we all know, Malcolm Marshall was part of the fearsome West Indies quartet of pace bowlers—Marshall, Michael Holding, Joel Garner and Andy Roberts.” Ranveer Singh will be seen essaying the role of Kapil Dev in the film.

For those who're uninitiated, Team India led by Kapil Dev had won the 1983 world cup by defeating West Indies by 43 runs 36 years back. Now, the film based on India's first world cup win is slated to hit the theatres on April 10, 2020.
