April 26 (AZINS) Six years ago, director Mohit Suri gave one of the biggest hits of 2013, Aashiqui 2. The tragic romantic film went on to become the turning point in the careers of the lead actors Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur. Along with the story and the palpable chemistry between the leads, Aashiqui 2 songs namely 'Tum Hi Ho', 'Sunn Raha Hai', 'Chahun Main Ya Naa' and others became chartbusters of that year. Moreover, we got the soulful singer Arijit Singh, for whom it was no turning back after Aashiqui 2.
As the film clocked six years of its release, Shraddha took to her Instagram page and shared a selfie video. In it, the cute actor is crooning 'Tum Hi Ho' in her melodious voice and it's definitely delightful to hear. Shraddha posted the video with a caption stating, "I am what I am because of you all #6YearsOfAashiqui2"
Interesting, Aashiqui 2 is based on the 1976 Hollywood film titled A Star Is Born which was also a remake of the 1937 film of the same name. In 2018, Bradley Cooper yet again remade the film and gave the same title A Star is Born. The film marked the directorial debut of Bradley and also starred Lady Gaga as the female lead.
Aashiqui 2 went on to enter Rs 100 crore club in 2013 as it went on to make an overall business of Rs 107.21 crore. It was a first for both Shraddha and Aditya.
