'Avatar 2' release pushed by a year, affects other sequels' release datesAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
May 8 (AZINS) Ever since Disney merged with Fox, people have been waiting to see what the collaboration has to offer. They have now unveiled their movie Calendar and it brings in a huge surprise. There is at least a year's delay in every movie release which was promised on a certain date. Not only that, Deadpool has been thrown out of the calendar.
The biggest change has come about in Avatar sequels. Director James Cameron announced that he would film the sequels 15 years back. In fact Avatar 2 was first supposed to release in December 2014. The last update on its release date was December 20, 2020, which has now been pushed to December 17, 2021.
Avatar 3 was expected to release on December 17, 2021 but that of course has been delayed and the latest release date is December 22, 2023. Avatar 4 which was going to release on December 20, 2024, has been pushed to December 19, 2025. Avatar 5 too has been postponed from December 19, 2025 to December 17, 2027.
The constant delay in release of Avatar 2 (Avatar released in 2009) is making Twitter believe that they would turn old by the time Avatar would actually be screened in theatres. Some even went on to consider that they would be dead by the time the movie actually releases.
While these movies have been postponed, there is no update on Fox-Marvel movies which were scheduled for 2020-2021 release. The list of movies include: X-Men and Fantastic Four, Channing Tatum starrer Gambit and Deadpool sequels.
