Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer 'Bharat' to release despite PIL for change in titleAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
June 3 (AZINS) Come June, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed against the makers of Bharat in Delhi High Court. The Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer came under spotlight thanks to the title of the film. The pleas was filed by activist Vipin Tyagi.
Tyagi on Thursday filed the PIL claiming that the word 'Bharat' cannot be used for public litigation. He added that calling a movie Bharat is violation of Section 3 of Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, which prohibits usage of the term for any trade, business or profession.
Vipin Tyagi's plea, however, according to news agency ANI, has been dismissed today. The Delhi High Court, the agency claims, has ruled in favour of Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer which is slated for an Eid release i.e. on June 5, 2019.
For the uninitiated, Salman Khan's character is called Bharat in the movie, based on the Nation. The tagline of the film too mentions 'The Story of a man and a nation together'. Tyagi urged the makers to change the dialogue too. He had told IANS, "Having watched the South Korean film, I felt there is no need to name this film after our nation. It is merely a shameless, cunning stratagem to encash the deep rooted feelings for the country, which was treasured by every Indian, in their hearts."
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat brings the trio of Ali, Salman and Katrina Kaif after Tiger Zinda Hai from 2017. Apart from them, the movie also stars Disha Patani, Tabu, Sunil Grover, Nora Fatehi, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni, Shashank Arora and others in pivotal roles. Bharat will also see a cameo by young star Varun Dhawan.
