'Article 15' Box Office Report Day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana's film witnesses a huge jump on Saturday
June 30 (AZINS) Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15 has received a positive response from the moviegoers and critics. The film revolves around the rape and murder of three minor girls in the rural area of the country, and Ayushmann plays the role of the investigating officer. Article 15 of the Indian Constitution prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex and place of birth, among many other factors. The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha and it's his first outing with Ayushmann.

On the opening day, Article 15 minted about Rs 4.75 crore as per reports in Box Office India. Now, as per reports the trading website, the film showed more than 50% growth on its second day as it made about Rs 7.25 crore. Now, the total has amounted up to Rs 12 crore. As World Cup 2019 match between India and England will be held today, it might slightly affect the third-day business of Article 15.

Meanwhile, talking about Article 15, Ayushmann earlier said, "I feel this has been the most consuming and the toughest role I have ever played in my career. I have never played a cop but this role was very physically demanding, at the same time."

When DNA After Hrs asked Anubhav about what made him direct Article 15, he replied, "You keep reading about it on a daily basis. You wonder why some lower-caste girls are raped and killed. You see this happening in the interiors of India. We don’t talk or think much about it. But it is a part of our lives in big cities, too. You see it in the matrimonial columns where they look for same caste marriages. Recently, there was news about a lady committing suicide in the heart of Mumbai in a medical college, a place which has a lot of educated people. You keep getting affected by such things and from there a story triggers in your head."

Apart from Ayushmann, the film also stars Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa and Sumbul Touqeer in pivotal roles.
