July 24 (AZINS) The disastrous floods in Assam affected many lives and properties. In order to give some relief to the people there, the Chief Minister started a relief fund. Bollywood celebrities have been coming out and asking people to donate their bit. Akshay Kumar did his bit, and Amitabh Bachchan is the latest to contribute towards the cause.
Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted, "We appreciate Shri Amitabh Bachchan ji for contributing Rs. 51 lakh to Chief Minister's Relief Fund. This is a great gesture & show of care for the people. Thank you, on behalf of the people of Assam, for your support. @SrBachchan"
Retweeting the tweet, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "Assam is in distress .. the floods have caused great damage .. send care and assistance for our brothers and sisters .. contribute generously to the CM Relief Fund .. I just did .. HAVE YOU ..?"
Prior to Big B, Akshay Kumar had donated Rs. 1 crore to the CM Relief Fund and Kaziranga Park rescue each. He had tweeted, "Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis.I’d like to donate 1 crore each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue. Appealing to all to contribute."
Priyanka Chopra had also tweeted about the devastating news and shared the link where people can donate money. However there is no news of any donation from her side yet.
