'The Lion King' Box Office: Live-in action film now a blockbuster in third weekend, nearing Rs 150 crore markAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Aug 5 (AZINS) After opening to great numbers and staying consistent, even as compared to the Bollywood release Super 30, The Lion King has finally been declared a blockbuster. The movie is currently competing with the highest grossing Hollywood film Avengers: Endgame.
After minting Rs. 1.76 crore on Friday, Rs. 4.45 crore on Saturday and Rs. 5.67 crore on it's third Sunday, The Lion King third weekend is rocksteady. The total collection of the film is currently at Rs. 139.20 crore, which is nearing Rs. 150 crore mark.
Confirming the same trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "#TheLionKing refuses to slow down... Witnesses superb growth on Sat and Sun, like previous two weekends... Inches closer to 150 cr... [Week 3] Fri 1.76 cr, Sat 4.45 cr, Sun 5.67 cr. Total: 139.20 cr. India biz. All versions."
He also added, "#TheLionKing biz at a glance... Week 1: 81.57 cr Week 2: 45.75 cr Weekend 3: 11.88 cr Total: 139.20 cr Nett BOC. India biz. All versions. BLOCKBUSTER."
The Lion King is directed by Jon Favreau and stars namely Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones have given voiceovers to the characters.
Talking about the Hindi version, Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, Sanjay Mishra, Shreyas Talpade, Ashish Vidhyarthi and Asrani among others were roped in to dub the film in the language.
