'We should wear what we want': Ace designer Falguni Peacock apologises post backlash for body-shaming plus-size brides
Aug 6 (AZINS) After facing a lot of flak and backlash online for her comments on plus-sized brides, ace fashion designer Falguni Peacock has apologised for her statement. In one of her recent interviews, Falguni was asked what advise she'd like to give to the plus-sized brides while picking their wedding outfits. To this, Falguni had told the channel GoodTimes, "I won't blatantly tell her to lose weight, but you have enough time and you can work on yourself. It is pretty easy to lose a couple of inches if you want to."

When prodded further about the kind out outfit that plus-sized brides should opt for, Falguni had said,"Long blouses, more flared lehengas and not fitted because fitted won't really work when you're a little big. No deep-necks for them, maybe more higher."

Her comments got major backlash on social media. A plus-size blogger Amber Qureshi had written a long letter to Falguni, explaining how her insensitive comments were toxic in nature. Soon after that, Falguni apologised in the comments section of the post writing, "To all you beautiful women, I am so so sorry if I’ve inadvertently hurt anyone’s feelings. This wasn’t my intention at all. Having dealt with body issues all my life (and am still dealing with them) I realise that we should wear what we want and what makes us happy. My sincere apologies."

Falguni was also called out by Diet Sabya on Instagram, especially because of her advise, "No deeo necks" for plus-sized brides. Noted designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has recently unveiled his Charbagh Winter 2019 bridal collection on his Instagram page in which a plus-size model is featured flaunting a deep plunging neckline attire with aplomb.

Quite a lot of netizens too termed Falguni's comments insensitive. Some of them even took to slamming Sara Ali Khan, who was sitting along with Falguni during the interview and chose not to stop her and tell how toxic her comments were, especially when Sara too has struggled to lose weight in the past owing to her PCOS condition.
