Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor top Karan Johar's wishlist for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' reboot
Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and many of industry walwarts recently rang in 20 years of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The movie's reboot has been spoken about since a long time, and Karan Johar announced his dream cast too.

Karan Johar, who made his debut as a director with the film, spoke about his wishlist for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai reboot during the movie's premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. During the audience interaction, the filmmaker went on to reveal he would love Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor to play Rahul, Anjali, and Tina. He said, “On my wishlist would be Ranveer Singh as Rahul. He has that mad intensity as Shah Rukh Khan. Alia Bhatt as Anjali. She has the spunk. And Janhvi Kapoor as Tina because she has the poise and balance of the part.”

Narrating about how he cast for the film, he said, “I was ecstatic to met SRK. Kajol and he had promised that they will do my first film. So I remembering going to meet him and I had no script whatsoever. I only had a scene in my mind. Which I narrated to him. And he bought into my bullshit. I told him if you like this one scene then I will narrate the entire film to you, which was completely a lie."

Karan Johar also went on to divulge that actors like Tabu, Urmila Matondkar and even Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had turned down the role of Tina. For the uninitiated, KJo wrote the role keeping his childhood crush Twinkle Khanna in mind. Twinkle's pet name, in real life, too, is Tina. "Tabu, Urmila, Aishwarya turned me down and Ash was the only one who was polite to call me back. It took months to cast for Rani’s part after Aditya Chopra recommended me her name,” said Karan.
