Ranu Mondal has gone from just another singer at a railway station, to singing for Bollywood thanks to internet and Himesh Reshammiya, who gave her an opportunity to sing in his upcoming movie. Thanks to fame, she reunited with her daughter Swati.

Ranu Mondal and Swati had not seen each other for eight years, but when they did, the two shared a warm embrace. Ranu was returning from various song recordings in Mumbai, which is when she met Swati. A photo of them went viral on the internet.

Born in Krishnanagar, Nadia, Ranu, who lost her mother at an early age, spent most of her childhood in Ranaghat because her aunt lived there. According to her voter ID, Ranu carried the last name Roy. The ID card helped Ranu fly to Mumbai to record her first song with Himesh Reshammiya.

Ranu has already sung a Bengali song in Kolkata and Hindi song in Delhi. After being spotted and going viral, Ranu got a makeover and appeared on a reality show. She is a self-confessed ardent fan of singing legend Lata Mangeshkar. Ranu was passionate about singing since childhood.
