'Mission Mangal' Box Office Report Day 17: Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan's film slows down post Prabhas' 'Saaho' releaseAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menon and Sharman Joshi starrer Mission Mangal released in theatres on Independence day alongside John Abraham-Mrunal Thakur starrer Batla House. The film has become a massive success at the Box Office.
After a record-breaking opening and opening weekend, Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan starrer Mission Mangal crossed Rs. 180-crore mark, before the movie slowed down at the Box Office. According to a report on Business Today, Mission Mangal minted Rs. 2 crore on its third Saturday.
Thus by day 17, Mission Mangal, produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions and Fox Star Studios, minted Rs. 187 crore net. The movie will easily cross Rs. 190-crore mark, but what awaits to be seen is whether Mission Mangal can cross Rs. 200-crore mark to become fourth film of 2019 to enter into the elite Rs. 200-crore-club after Bharat, Uri: The Surgical Strike and Kabir Singh.
Mission Mangal, made of budget of Rs. 32 crore, is directed by Jagan Shakti and produced by R. Balki. The movie is loosely based on the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, India's first interplanetary expedition. The movie is jointly produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, Fox Star Studios, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu.
Mission Mangal and Batla House are currently facing competition from Prabhas-Shraddha Kapoor's much-awaited movie Saaho, which released on August 30. Saaho went on to become the second highest grossing film on opening day in India.
