Now, while talking to Mumbai Mirror, Vanraj Ji, who is of 92, spoke about living a tough life currently. He stated to the tabloid, "I have no money but one rupee left in my account." He also has severe knee pain, hearing loss, extended bouts of memory lapses, while his domestic help who has been living with him for past decade revealed that Vanraj Ji hasn't gone on medical check-ups.
When the tabloid asked filmmaker Benegal about Vanraj Ji, he said, "I think unfortunately, Vanraj painted himself into a corner over time. Apart from financial needs, he doesn’t have friends who can match his intelligence, sense of humour and world view. He needs someone to talk to on a day-to-day basis. A tough call in this day and age."
While Kabir Bedi tweeted, "I visited #VanrajBhatia yesterday. He is lively and spirited as ever. But, yes, ALL friends should help him at this difficult time. On his own, he has composed an opera on Girish Karnad’s play “Agni Matu Male” (The Fire and the Water). And he’s 92!"
We hope he gets all the necessary help soon!
