'You have to feel like an equal': Kangana Ranaut slams Taapsee Pannu, Alia Bhatt on their gender wage gap commentsAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Kangana Ranaut is well known for always speaking her mind whether it is about the Bollywood film industry or politics or gender wage gap.
Kangana is currently gearing up for the release of Panga, an upcoming sports drama in which she plays the role of a railway employee as well as a Kabaddi player.
The trailer of the film released yesterday and was well received by critics and fans both. Kangana also went to CST Mumbai station yesterday and sold tickets to passengers to promote the film.
As per reports, during an interview, Kangana commented on the gender wage gap in the industry.
"I have heard some successful actresses saying that they don't deserve equal pay as their male colleagues because the latter get big openings, but I believe if you won't feel empowered yourself then no film or person can make you feel empowered. You have to feel like an equal. You should tell yourself that you don't have any shortcomings."
Kangana's comments came after Taapsee Pannu recently had said that she can’t expect that because she is cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan (Badla), Akshay Kumar (Mission Mangal) and Varun Dhawan (Judwaa 2), she should get the same salary as theirs as she won’t get the audience to the theatres as much as they will.
Alia Bhatt had also commented on the matter and had said that Varun Dhawan is paid more than her and that investing money in a film is directly co-related to the people you are bringing to the theatre.
On the work front, Kangana will be seen in Panga directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. The film is slated to release on January 24, 2020.
