'He is full of life, plays cricket quite well': Kapil Dev on Ranveer Singh & his experience with '83' team
One of the most anticipated movies of 2020 is sure to be Kabir Khan's '83, based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup win, the team captained by Kapil Dev.

Ranveer Singh, who plays the role of the former Indian skipper in the film has already left fans mesmerized by accurately imbibing the former cricketer's spirit, however, he has even left Kapil Dev impressed with his commitment and skills. In a recent interview when Kapil Dev was asked about Ranveer playing him in the film, he said, "Ranveer Singh is full of life. He plays cricket quite well. When we were together, he would keep on asking me stories of that era, how it was like with the team, the camaraderie and so on. He wanted to get into the mood."

Further speaking about Ranveer's training and the shooting of '83, Kapil said, "I'd see him work so hard on bowling; he'd bowl and play for eight hours constantly to understand the rhythm, and would do so in the peak of summer. In such conditions, even cricketers [avoid training] to prevent injuries. So, I feared for his fitness. Ranveer told me that he wanted to be with me. I don't know what he was trying to [study] — my actions, my manner of talking or pronunciation. [During the 10-day stay] he was dieting because he had to lose weight. He was also practicing [with me] during that time."

'83 also stars Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Amrita Puri, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, and Sahil Khattar in significant roles. The movie is all set to hit the theaters on 10th April 2020.
