In 2018, Nafisa Ali had announced that she has been diagnosed with stage three cancer. Now, after being cancer-free, the veteran actor revealed that she is diagnosed with skin disease leucoderma. Nafisa, who is currently in Goa took to her Instagram page and shared a selfie while talking about suffering from the skin disorder.
She started by writing, "Ever since my chemotherapy, I started noticing white patches on my neck area ... now being by the sea and getting a tan, I can tell it’s on my face too. Such is life ... you win some and lose some. I have been diagnosed with Leucoderma ... What is it? Quite similar to the skin condition “Vitiligo” –leucoderma is a skin disorder in which patches of skin tend to lose its natural colour."
Nafisa further wrote, "Leucoderma (not cancer) is regarded as the de-pigmentation of the skin which is marked by the localization or destruction of melanocytes in the body. The characteristic formation of white patches on the skin remains closely bound to each other unlike the patches formed in Vitiligo."
The veteran actor concluded by writing, "Leucoderma is particularly known by the presence of white patches which could be localized to smaller areas in the beginning. However, with the passage of time, the skin patches might get enlarged. Stay blessed and happy."
Nafisa, who made her acting debut as early as in 1979 in Shashi Kapoor starrer Junoon, went on to do several Bollywood films later. Some of the notable ones include Life In A Metro, Major Saab and Yamla Pagla Deewana among others.
