'Devi would have no patience for Kelly!': Mindy Kaling on if her 'The Office' character meets 'Never Have I Ever' lead
Mindy Kaling's latest show co-created with Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever streamed on Netflix on Monday. The show based on a first-generation Indian-American girl stars debutante Maitreyi Ramakrishnan in the lead role. The teenage drama has all elements of comedy, tragedy and is relatable to many India based Americans living there. Mindy has created the show and many fans wished to see her too in it.

For the uninitiated, Kaling became a household name with her stint as Kelly Kapoor in The Office (US). During an interaction with The Hindu, Mindy was asked what will happen if Kelly and Devi (Maitreyi) come face to face with each other for interaction. The talented actor-producer stated, "I think that Devi would have no patience for Kelly! Devi is just so whip-smart and tough in a way that Kelly is not. Devi would also roll her eyes so hard at how frivolous and girly Kelly was, that she would just not be into her at all. And Kelly would just think Devi was such a brat!"

When asked about how Maitreyi being a debutante got into the skin of her character, Mindy went on to say, "Maitreyi, in particular, is so comfortable in her skin; she has this great raspy voice and uses all this lingo and slang that I’d never heard before. So hearing her talk and then Lang and I putting that into the script was for authenticity. All three of them gave us such great material for the show."
