Deepika Padukone paid tribute to her late 'Piku' co-star Irrfan Khan. She posted an image of dark screen on her Instagram page and captioned it with a broken heart with the actor's name.
Deepika and Irrfan had played friends in Shoojit Sircar's movie 'Piku'. The movie also featured Amitabh Bachchan as Deepika's father. Deepika and Irrfan were also expected to begin shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Sapna Didi' some time in the future.
Irrfan Khan died of colon infection at the age of 53. The actor had just succeeded in a battle with cancer and was even seen in his comeback film 'Angrezi Medium', directed by Homi Adajania. The movie also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal and Dimple Kapadia.
While Shoojit had confirmed Irrfan's demise on Twitter, Amitabh Bachchan was among the first to pay his condolences to the actor. "An incredible talent... A gracious colleague, a prolific contributor to the world of cinema left us too soon, creating a huge vacuum," wrote the megastar.
Irrfan's last rites took place in Versova crematorium at 3 pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was being treated in Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hospital.
