Bollywood director Shoojit Sircar confirmed that actor Irrfan Khan was no more. The actor was battling cancer for a long time and even though he came back to India from UK, he had to go through routine check-ups for his health. Irrfan managed to work on Homi Adjania's Bollywood movie 'Angrezi Medium' opposite Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The movie had released in theatres for a day but owing to coronavirus lockdown and all theatres being shut, the film finally found an online release.

Irrfan was recently grieving his mother Saeeda Begum's demise. The actor himself was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after being detected with colon infection, which was the root cause for his death.

Irrfan Khan was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hospital in Versova, Mumbai after the infection.

Irrfan Khan breathed his last today i.e. on April 29, 2020. He died at 11.11 am.

The late actor has now been cremated in Versova kabrastan. His sons Bilal and Ayan performed his last rites. Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sandeep Ssingh and others carried Irrfan's mortal remains to the graveyard. Vishal Bhardwaj, Kapil Sharma, Mika Singh and Rajpal Yadav were seen at the funeral along with Irrfan's wife Sutapa Sikdar. The cremation took place at 3 pm.
