Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is celebrating his birthday today and has turned 60. On the occasion of his birthday, the superstar decided to treat fans with surprising news. Yes, a while back Lalettan, as he is fondly called took to his social media pages and announced the sequel to his 2015 blockbuster film, Drishyam. The thriller flick was helmed by Jeethu Joseph, who will also direct the second instalment. The shooting for Drishyam 2 will kickstart post lockdown ends.
Mohanlal shared a teaser video announcing the film which will give instant chills to the fans who loved the Drishyam. The video has a glimpse of the uneven land, which indicates where Mohanlal's character George Kutty had hidden the body of Varun, which later on was known to be the place where a police station was built. The teaser also has a caricature of Mohanlal's character holding a shovel as shown in the climax of the first instalment.
During a recent interaction with Manorama News, Jeethu was asked about the mixed reactions to the announcement of Drishyam sequel. To which he stated, "Frankly, I am surprised by some of the reactions to the news, though I must concede I expected such mixed reactions. Let me make it clear that I can’t write a sequel for such an overpowering film like Drishyam in such a short span. It has been brewing in my mind for a long time, say four-five years, and my initial decision was not to go ahead. I almost dropped the plan though the idea always lingered."
