Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre has now been postponed indefinitely due to the rising cases of coronavirus. The makers stated the same and also urged people to stay safe. Chehre directed by Rumy Jafry was all set to hit the screens on April 9, 2021, but now the release date has been changed and the makers will update the new date later.
In a statement, producer Anand Pandit stated, "Considering the situation and safety of our audiences and fans which is of utmost importance to us, we have decided to postpone our film Chehre. The team has taken immense efforts to make it a great cinematic experience and we are looking forward to our audiences coming to the theatres safely."
Emraan shared the statement with a caption stating, "The well-being of our very own audience is of utmost importance to us. We are extremely humbled by the love and support that we have received this far. See you in the cinemas soon. Until then, stay safe! - Team #Chehre."
Meanwhile, during an interaction with DNA, when Anand was asked if Rhea's absence from Chehre new poster was a conscious decision, a strategy to create buzz about the film, he said, "Not really. As I have mentioned earlier, a lot of turmoil has happened in her life and we wanted to give her a little bit of space. And it is not Rhea Chakraborty's film, it's Mr Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi's film. So, naturally, our focus is on that. But, as a gesture, because all our artists should be there one by one, so, she appeared in the trailer. It was not a part of a strategy. And we didn't want to ride on anyone's agony. We have enough stalwarts in the film."
