'Team was on fire this season,' says CSK's Faf du Plessis as he bids goodbye to IPL 2021Author : AZIndia News Desk
As many overseas players, who have returned home or are on their way back home, have started posting about the truncated season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), all have wished best for the ones suffering in India due to the devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and talked about their experience in India.
The latest one is the Chennai Super Kings' opening batsman Faf du Plessis, who was one of the bright stars for the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side, scoring the most runs for the mn in yellow by a single player. Du Plessis ended with 320 runs in 7 games at an average of 64, striking at 145. Du Plessis won CSK a couple of games on his own as he and his partner Ruturaj Gaikwad stitched 100-run partnerships in those two games.
Taking to Instagram, Du Plessis wrote, "Sad leaving the @iplt20 and the @chennaiipl family. Team was on fire this season. My constant prayers is with the people from India to get through this. Pls Take care of yourselves."
After a dismal performance last year, CSK had a transformation for the ages as they destroyed teams left, right and centre. CSK won five out of the seven games they played in the 2021 season of the IPL and were just behind the Delhi Capitals in the points table as they had one more win, playing one extra game before the tournament was suspended.
After two cases in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp and a few cases in Chennai Super Kings camp including that of bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji and batting coach Michael Hussey, two new cases emerged out of the iPL bubble, one from Sunrisers Hyderabad of wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha and one from the Delhi Capitals, of leg-spinner Amit Mishra.
The BCCI and the IPL Governing Council had to make a decision before the cases spread like a wildfire in the bubble and decided to postpone the event keeping the health of everyone involved in mind.
