'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah': Sunayana Fozdar breaks silence on reports of Neha Mehta's return on the showPopular sitcom 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' has been one of the longest-running shows on Indian television and successfully so. It's been over a decade that the artists continue to entertain the audience with their stellar performances. However, last year, some actors were replaced which gave the viewers even more reason to watch the hit show with renewed enthusiasm and curiosity.

Neha Mehta who had been playing the role of Anjali Bhabhi for over a decade was one of the actors who were replaced last year. Actress Sunayana Fozdar, who has worked in several TV shows came on board as Anjali Bhabhi after Neha bid adieu to the show.

However, of late, there were rumours of Neha wanting to make a comeback on the show. Reacting to such reports, Sunayana recently told ETimes in an interview that ever since she has joined the show, she has been haunted by the questions of replacement.

While mentioning that it has been eight months since she has been portraying the character of Anjali Mehta on the show, Sunayana said that she has no clue if Neha wants to come back on the show or not.

She told ETimes, "Ever since I was chosen to play Anjali, questions on the replacement haven't stopped. I was very clear from the beginning that I would work on the character through my eyes and not on the basis of how someone played it for so many years. I am not a newcomer and I have done many shows before this. I am glad that I got the opportunity to be a part of this show and I could add my flavour to the role. I feel a character is above any actor and we need to remember that. Rest is for the viewers to decide how comfortable they are seeing the new Anjali bhabhi."

If Neha wants to come back to the show, then it is entirely producer Asit Kumarr Modi’s call. I am no one to comment on it,” she added.

Earlier, in February, Neha had cleared the air around reports that she had called the producers of the show to consider her return. She revealed these speculations are baseless as she has never contacted the makers or expressed her wish to return after quitting the show. She cleared, "I will only consider a comeback to Taarak Mehta… if the audiences, production house and channel want me."

When Neha quit in August last year, producer Asit Modi had said, "We started the shoot on 10th July. Anjali Mehta sent us a letter in April or May where she mentioned that doing the show is difficult for her."

After that, we tried to contact her a lot. But she didn’t revert back till 10th August. We tried to explain her a lot, and we have high regards for her. She has performed really well in Taarak Mehta. My work is to keep the team united because this is my family. If anyone leaves the show, it’s upsetting. But if someone does not wish to be a part, there’s nothing I can do, " he had shared.

When asked about what went wrong that Neha had to quit the show, Asit stated, "Kabhi chota mote kisse bante hai, par wo har parivaar me bante hai. Lekin humlog bhul jaate hai aura age badhte hai. Kisiko takleef hoti hai toh mai samajha sakta hu. Unko ye lag raha tha ki ‘mujhe aur kuch bhi karna chahiye, ye bhi karna chahiye aur wo bhi karna chahiye.’ Har chiz ka solution hota hai."
