WTC final: Wasim Jaffer asks when rain will stop in Southampton, Dinesh Karthik responds with a hilarious memeAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
The rain Gods were pretty severe in Southampton, England on Friday, the first day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand. The relentless rains in the city continued from the eve of the match to the day of the game, which forced the washout of the first session.
The rains stopped at around 5.30 PM IST but the extensive water on the ground formed puddles and it will take time for the groundsmen to clean the water and make it play ready, which is why the play on the first day looks a tiny possibility.
Thus, former Indian batsman, Wasim Jaffer asked the wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik, who is part of the commentary team for the summit clash, when the rain will stop with a meme and the latter responded in former's style with a meme from a popular Hindi comedy film, 'Hera Pheri'.
Jaffer asked the question in popular journalist Arnab Goswami's way, "The nation wants to know." Dinesh Karthik replied with the meme featuring the character Baburao played by Paresh Rawal saying "Sunday ko aana (Come on Sunday)." However, instead of Sunday, Karthik edited it and wrote Saturday implying that the first day might be called off in all likelihood.
Jaffer replied with another meme asking for regular updates, saying that he will remain online.
