Hollywood needs more women directors: Jodie FosterAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Los Angeles, Feb 8 (AZINS) Actress-filmmaker Jodie Foster feels that more women are required behind the camera in Hollywood because of the prevailing gender imbalance.
The 52-year-old, who started acting when she was just three, has seen a lot of positive changes in the industry but feels more needs to be done for equality, reports people.com.
“When I was growing up in the film business, I never saw a woman’s face,” Foster said at the Athena Film Festival Thursday, while accepting the Laura Ziskin Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Sometimes it was the lady who played my mom. Or occasionally it would be a makeup artist. But most often it would really just be me and the script supervisor.
“And little by little, as time went on, a few female faces started coming onto crews. And it changed everything,” added "The Beaver" director.
The two-time Oscar-winner believes that the change will come with the upcoming generations.
“There aren’t enough women directors. And hopefully that will change. And perhaps that will change with this next generation,” she said.
