George Clooney to visit sandwich shop for charityAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
London, March 11 (AZINS) Actor George Clooney will visit a sandwich shop set up by the Social Bite charity to employ homeless people in Edinburgh and other Scottish cities.
The 53-year-old star is set to travel to support Social Bite, which was founded in 2012 to employ local homeless people, after being invited by owners Josh Littlejohn and Alice Thompson to witness its charitable work, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"George will be at one of our social enterprise sandwich shops in Edinburgh and will meet the staff from homeless backgrounds and sample the food. We might even name a sandwich after him," Littlejohn told the Daily Record newspaper.
The "Monuments Men" actor, who will also dine with nine members of the public during his trip, has chosen to visit the shop to raise money for Social Bite and his own charity -- Not on Our Watch.
He may even help the team of staff, who until recently lived on the streets, out behind the counter, although it's unclear whether his human rights lawyer wife Amal Clooney will be joining him for the visit.
"George only does two events of this kind a year with a view to raise awareness of his charitable work and it is great that he has chosen us. The end goal is always for us to help Social Bite prosper.
"As soon as I heard he'd said yes I sat in my house and watched the 'Ocean's Eleven' trilogy. I thought, 'This is seriously cool.' I'm not sure if his wife Amal will be coming but she also has an open invite," Littlejohn added.
