Los Angeles, June 15 (AZINS) Rapper MC Supreme, best known for his 1990 single “Black in America”, died after his stationary car was rammed by a suspected drunk driver in a pickup truck in Malibu, California.
Supreme, 47, whose real name is Dewayne Lawrence Coleman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the early morning accident on Saturday, reports dailymail.co.uk.
According to authorities, he was sitting with a woman in his parked Honda Civic on a shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway at about 6.20 a.m. when a pickup truck slammed into his vehicle.
Supreme's sedan rolled over onto an embankment above the beach. The female passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
The pickup flipped and struck another parked vehicle with two people inside, but they were not injured.
The driver of the pickup was identified as 34-year-old Philip Torres II and he was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
Torres suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
Supreme was a member of the West Coast Rap All-Stars that included MC Hammer, Tone-Loc, Ice-T, Digital Underground and Dr. Dre, MC Ren and Eazy-E of N.W.A.
