Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash keen to collaborate with Indian musiciansAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, Nov 6(AZINS) Legendary Rock icon Saul Hudson, better known by his stage name 'Slash', says he is keen to collaborate with Indian musicians for a project.
The British-American musician, best known as the former lead guitarist of the rock band Guns N' Roses, was initially planning for the tie up on his maiden visit to the country this time. "We were talking about doing something like that (collaborating with Indian musicians) on this trip. I cannot share the details but it was too time-consuming and too complicated to do it on this trip. "But it would be an interesting thing. The plan was to take some of our material with our Indian musicians and so on.
It would be very interesting," said Slash. The 50-year-old rocker is in India along with his backing band The Conspirators and vocalist Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge) to headline the second season of MTV Indies Xtreme, a rock music and adventure sports festival. Even though the collaboration is not likely to happen on this trip, 'Slash' says he would come back to India and do it what might be the fusion of two musical styles. "We will see, hopefully after these two shows, it will be easier to come back and do it. I would imagine the collaboration to be the two styles mixed together." Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators will perform in Mumbai on November 7 and in Bengaluru on November 14.
On his maiden trip to India, Slash says he visited a temple and is excited about the fans, as much of his "enthusiastic" twitter followers are from India. "We came here early this morning then hit the streets today. Went to some temples, offered flowers and coconuts and so on. I think it was a Shiva temple...I have a very enthusiastic twitter following from India, that seems like a good positive. I haven't seen any fans yet but the general buzz is very enthusiastic about it. I am looking forward to it," he said.
The musician says the show will be nearly two-hour long with "high energy, lots of material and rock and roll". Adding, "We are improvising the set as we go along... We have a general set but I change it every night."
