Bieber cancelled his scheduled appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and a performance for the 89th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Gomez urged Bieber to talk to his mother Pattie Mallette to cope with his problems, reported Hollywood Life.

"Selena is huge on family and thinks Justin could benefit from some much needed, quality time with his mom. He's got so much on his plate right now and Selena knows that Pattie always has a soothing affect on Justin," a source said. "(Selena) knows he needs a lot of support right now from the people who know him the best and love him the most. People who have his best interests at heart," the source added.

Bieber, 21, previously dished on his relationship with his mother during an interview released earlier in November. He said that their relationship in the past two years became "pretty non-existing. I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was."

On the other hand, Pattie was supportive of him. Pattied tweeted a message to her son, after learning that Bieber had the most songs ever on the Billboard Hot 100.
