This sensor-filled bra pushes you to work out harderAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, Jan 4(AZINS) By every account, 2016 is bound to be the year of wearable technology (among a host of other things.) And by wearable we’re not just talking about watches and fitness bands, but regular garments and gear that you wear that now has smart electronics and sensors built right in.
Case in point is a Canadian company called OmSignal, which happens to be doing some pretty amazing work at weaving high-tech electronics into clothing. They have recently been flaunting their newest creation--a smart bra called the OmBra that helps women log and monitor vital stats like heart rate, breathing rate, and calories burned over the course of a workout.
The sensors are all built into what resembles a little black box located in the lower band of the bra, right next to the rib cage. This box monitors and wirelessly transmits all of these readings to the companion app on a nearby smartphone, which can be used to measure parameters during a workout such as distance traversed during a run, pace, breathing rhythm, and even fatigue levels.
The system enables the wearer to also see real-time readouts of metrics during a workout, and it even delivers post-workout analytics to help the wearer identify weak points and possibly hit peak performance the next time around.
The company states the bra--which is rechargeable--can last for up to 10 workouts or a full day of regular use before needing a recharge. It is also splash-proof and comes with adjustable bands and straps that helps it conform to just about any body shape.
It retails for around $150 (approx. Rs 9,975.)
