Mekamon is the remote controlled fighting robot of your boyhood fantasiesAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, Jan 6(AZINS) Aside from all the expected smartphones, laptops, wearables and gaming gear to come out from the Consumer Electronics Show, you can always count on that one thing that just blows your mind. And while that one thing is usually something you never would've thought of, this time it's every little boy's dream.
Enter Mekamon, the future of toys. The awesomely named product is a toy at heart, for the child and man-child alike, but it's also so much more. The robots have been designed as four-legged modular fighting bots, that you can collect, customise, and fight. And that's not all; the bots are also equipped with infrared, Bluetooth, and an internal compass to pinpoint an opponent. While the technology is still in the very early stages, the basic idea is to bring robot fights from your childhood fantasies into your living room. The company behind the bots, the UK-based Reach Robotics, is currently building a game that allows two players to fight each other with the robots in augmented reality, using their smartphones as controllers. As of right now, you can just play the single player mode, using the phone to aim, attack and switch weapons.
It's robots, augmented reality, and local multiplayer all rolled into one. What more could you ask for?
